Chris Goodson – Executive Director
As the president of Chris Goodson Appraisals, Chris provides services to six counties in central Kansas, including residential, multi-family and agricultural properties. With over 30 years of experience in this field, she serves as a consultant for attorneys, contractors, developers, government agencies, and provides expert testimony in court cases.
Chris is chair of the Board of Planning and Zoning Appeals for Special Use in McPherson and one of the founding members of the McPherson Area Contractors Association. As one of the founding members of the Brush Up Mac program in the city of McPherson, she coordinates over 350 volunteers who descend upon 25-30 properties every spring to do yard work, painting, and small repairs. Chris has overseen many construction projects and is well-versed in construction management.
Having lived in McPherson for over 40 years after growing up in California, Chris has seen the problems of life in the big city and also the kinds of challenges rural families face. In any case, she is well aware of the difficulties of families trying to find affordable housing. It was due to the problems these families face with finding decent, low-income housing that impelled her to start the housing coalition in 2008.
Chris and her husband, Kip, who owns the Defining Edge, have three sons and two grandchildren. She holds a BA from McPherson College and an MS in Organizational Leadership and Entrepreneurship from Grand Canyon University.
