Jean Ballew – Program Director
Jean has been at MHC since July 2018 until recently she was the Program Director. Jean is looking forward to retirement in October, 2021 and is now working as a Case Manager for MHC. Prior to this, she worked mostly as an educator or in ministry with children and families. For several years she served as the Director of Curriculum at the national office for the Free Methodist Church in Indianapolis.
Besides being a children’s pastor, she has taught all grades from pre-school through high school and has been a college professor in several colleges in central Kansas – both public and private.
Jean’s husband Frank is the Director of Publications at Bethany College in Lindsborg, KS. He is often tapped for his graphic design skills to create brochures, flyers, posters, and other publicity pieces for the housing coalition, which he graciously does pro bono.
In 2012 Jean received her Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction from Kansas State University. As an undergrad, she majored in social work. While she has certainly used that degree in various ways over the years, this is her first job where she is paid to use it. Her favorite aspect of this job? Seeing clients’ faces when they receive the key to their new home.
