McPherson Housing Coalition, Inc. (MHC) is an alliance of community members whose mission is to develop, promote, and implement programs that provide affordable, decent and quality housing to eligible families. We strengthen communities by providing housing opportunities and supportive services to improve the quality of life and economic stability for seniors, working families and individuals.
MHC is committed to operating in an efficient, ethical and professional manner. We seek to partner with local residents, business, industry and government entities to enhance the quality of life for those we serve, utilizing appropriate resources and funding from all available sources.

Chris Goodson- Executive Director
Chris is the president of an appraisal company that provides services to six counties in central Kansas. This includes residential, multi-family and agricultural properties; she is a consultant for attorneys, contractors, developers and government agencies and provides expert testimony in court cases. She has over thirty years of experience in this field. She holds a BA from McPherson College and will complete her Masters in Organizational Leadership and Entrepreneurship in June. She has performed work for various institutions including the State of Kansas, financial institutions and attorneys. Chris is chair of the Planning and Zoning Board of Appeals in McPherson. She was one of the founding members of the McPherson Area Contractors Association, holding the office of secretary for two years. She is a member of the local board of realtors and belongs to real estate boards in six counties. She was one of the founding members of the Brush up Mac program in the City of McPherson and is an active member of various organizations within the city of McPherson. She has overseen many construction projects and is well versed in construction management. Chris has lived in McPherson for 38 years, having grown up in California she has seen the problems of the big city and the difficulties of families who are trying to find affordable housing. She and her husband, Kip, who owns the Defining Edge, have three boys and two grandkids.
Murray McGee-Chairman of the Board of Directors
Murray is the Economic Development Director and Chamber of Commerce Director for the City of Moundridge, Kansas. He is a Certified Public Manager with over 20 years’ experience in the Chamber and Economic Development Industry. He is experienced with business retention, expansion and attraction; housing development; community and business marketing; as well as business financing, grants and loans.
Moundridge, Kansas is one of the fastest growing communities under 10,000 population in Kansas and is home to several global companies with a strong presence in advanced manufacturing.
Mary is currently the Co-chair for McPherson Housing Coalition. She is a licensed real estate appraiser in Kansas and has an extensive background in financial accounting for large nonprofits. She developed accounting procedures that are now used in several nonprofits across the country. She has experience in nonprofit auditing, compliance reports and grant procedures. She has a Bachelor of Science from McPherson College. Mary has been involved in several nonprofit organizations in the community and feels housing is the number one issue facing families in our community. She and her husband Jerry have five children, nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Dr. Jean Ballew - Program and Case Manager
Jean has been with MHC since July 2018. Prior to this, she worked mostly as an educator or in ministry with children and families. Besides teaching all grades from pre-school through high school, she has been a college professor in several colleges in central college. In 2012 Jean received her Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction from Kansas State University. As an undergrad, she majored in social work. While she has certainly used that degree in various ways, this is her first job where she is paid to use it. Her favorite aspect of this job? Seeing clients’ faces when they receive the key to their new home.
Lori Frazer- Board Member
Lori has worked for The Citizens State Bank for 20 years. She is the VP of Mortgage Lending and works at their Hesston location. A native of Oregon, she moved to Moundridge in 1994 after meeting her husband Shawn while attending Hesston College. They raised two children in Moundridge and she has volunteered in many ways in her community such as the Welcome Wagon, Preschool Board, School Board and currently the McPherson Housing Coalition Board since 2018.
Sandee Thompson - Administrative Assistant
After growing up in McPherson I have returned to my roots after living in Phoenix, Az. for 60 years where I worked as a licensed Realtor for 42 years. I was widowed 6 years ago and have 3 grown children and 5 grandchildren. My blessings include my family, friends, my church and serving with MHC.
Barbara Tuxhorn- Board Member
Barbara is the Clerk for the City of Inman. She and her husband Rick Tuxhorn moved to Inman in 1993 with their two daughters.
She has a bachelor's degree in social work and has been employed at the City of Inman since 2005. She has served as city clerk since 2012. Rick works at McPherson College in finance. Barbara enjoys reading, fishing and kayaking in her spare time.
Richard Miller - Board Member
Richard has served with the City of McPherson for 16 years. During the past seven years he has been on the administrative and finance staff. Rich serves as liaison between McPherson Housing Coalition (MHC) and the Kansas Housing Resource Corporation (KHRC). Rich processes ESG Grant reimbursement requests and aides with processing the ESG Grant application.
Richard grew up attending McPherson schools and graduated from McPherson High School in 1988. Rich attended Washburn University, graduated in 1993 with a BA in Business Administration, Major Accounting- Minor in Finance.
Richard was employed by Oneok-Kansas Gas Service in Overland park where he worked in the Capital Asset Division before he and his wife moved to McPherson. He and his wife Leslee have five children and one granddaughter.
